HOW TO APPLY

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION

• Age requirements can vary depending on the program.
• Must have a portfolio displaying work in video format.
• May be asked to include a Selfie Video introducing yourself and telling us why you want this scholarship.
• May be asked to travel.
• Must be able to understand and communicate well in English.
• Must own the rights to any artwork that is submitted.
• In the event of a dispute as to eligibility, the Foundation will decide whether an applicant is eligible, and its decision will be binding.

GENERAL APPLICATION PROCESS

• Go to the application portal website: https://ctnf.smapply.io/ 
• Register for the website.
• Select the program you want to apply for.
• And select the scholarship you are applying for.
• IMPORTANT: Do not submit an application until you are 100% happy with your it. You won't be able to return to edit an application after it is submitted.

We recommend taking your time to show your best work. Quality over quantity!
Your portfolio should show your best work! Please organize your work to highlight your passion for visual storytelling.

Resume Submission Specifications: Applicants will submit a PDF.

SUBMISSION SPECS

A. Two Video Submissions

1. Submit a video selfie expressing what this program means to you. (optional)

2. Submit an animation reel with examples of your work. (mandatory)

Video Length - Under 5 min each

Video Max File Size - 500 MB

Acceptable File Formats - .avi, .mp4, .mov

3. An application assignmnt would use one of these slots.

B. Portfolio Submission

Please submit your strongest work in your portfolio, that represents what you love and 

the role you are seeking in the animation industry.

All image files must be .jpg, .jpeg, or .pdf in the RGB color space. 

Image file maximum 1240 x 1240 pixels. Maximum of 7 images. 

A single pdf could hold more than one image.

An application assignment would use one of the 7 slots.

C. Application Assignment

Some programs may ask for an application assignment to be completed.

The assignment would use one of the 7 image slots or one of the 2 video slots depending on the assignment.

PORTFOLIO EVALUATION

Your portfolio will be evaluated for the following:

• Creativity
  • The idea/concept.
• Storytelling
  • Is the animation readable. Is it clear.
• Technique
  • Shows skill and handling of the animation you are working in.
• Style
  • Design.
• Originality
  • Your voice. Your signature.

NOTES

Please do not submit anything other than what is asked for. 

You will be asked to register for Survey Monkey prior to using the CTN Foundation Application Portal.

Scholarship winner(s) must attend an orientation prior to the beginning of the program. Scholarship winner(s) must attend award ceremony at CTNX 2025. More information will be provided upon acceptance to the program.

AWARD PROCESS

There are multiple programs to apply for. 

There are Judges for each program.

The Foundation will notify each winner and announce the winners in each program.

The Foundation in some cases will announce the Finalists.

Winners in each category in some cases will be featured at special events.

Each Winner will receive a prize. Each Finalist, if any, will receive a runner up prize. The prizes can vary.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

All applicants for the CTN Foundation Awards must agree to the terms and conditions.

The CTN Foundation is closely monitoring the best health and safety practices associated with COVID-19 for future programming that may include any in-person events.

Winners, if selected, must agree to participate in the Foundation’s exclusive Scholarship Alumni program, the details of which will be conveyed to them by the Foundation.
