NEXTGEN INITIATIVE

The CTN Foundation's NextGen Initiative is designed to nurture young creative talent and help them transition from student life to professional careers in animation.  Scholarships and mentorship programs are often part of this initiative, giving emerging artists access to industry expertise.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR MICHAL MAKAREWICZ

MICHAL MAKAREWICZ is  a former multiple award-winning PIXAR artist of 20 years. He spent  those years at PIXAR as a Fixer, Animator, Directing Animator,  Supervising Animator, Director (Disney+), and Intern Training Lead.
 

He has worked on some of Pixar's most beloved shorts and feature films such as Toy Story 3, Toy Story 4, Incredibles 1, Incredibles 2, Finding Dory, Brave, Cars 1, Cars 2, Wall-E, UP, Soul, Ratatouille, as well as many others. Michal led the Pixar internship along other  educational series for employees at the studio. He also has had the  honor of mentoring under Founder Ed Catmull.
 

Michal left PIXAR with multiple awards. He’s been honored with 2 Annies (Soul, Ratatouille), been nominated for a VES award (Incredibles 2) and a Reuben Award (Soul).  Michal was also honored with a scholarship in his name at Vancouver  Film School. He is currently the Head of Studio Animation for SPIRE  Animation Studios.
 

Michal is also the Founder of the Animation Collaborative. An animation school focused on learning high level feature Animation,  Story,  and Character Design. Taught by some of the top artists in the  field, the school has helped many achieve their goals. Michal is also  the Founder of ProRigs a 40+ character library of  professionally designed and built 3D rigs.  These are for students and professionals to help for training or use in  commercial use.
