Full Scholarship Awardee 2025
"Before the scholarship, I found myself stuck and going in a rut when doing character design— I recall wishing to have some guidance and direction towards what I was doing in design, as my school did not offer me much help in what I wanted to do. I was really lucky to be given such an amazing opportunity with Torsten Schrank, and he has really steered me in the right path for design, and taught me so many design principles that I have never even known. It was a delight chatting with him about work ethic, career advice, as well as how to approach design as a professional character designer. I am endlessly grateful for the opportunity, and my work / draftsmanship skills has increased significantly throughout these 6 months!" ~ Catherine Guo, Character Designer

"Don't chase a trend with your art. Stay true to yourself and your artwork will catch the viewer's attention."~Torsten Schrank

"The scholarship was both a destination and a new starting point for me. It was proof to myself that my craft has value not only to me, but to others as well. It gave me a lot of confidence to continue believing in myself, and it was assuring to know that I am going in the right direction in this journey that has no set road. At the same time, it was a new beginning of another chapter in my life as it provided an opportunity to connect with other artists outside my usual social bubble." ~Jiwon Chun, Animation Student

"After the large-scale animation layoffs, I found myself swept up and stuck after my last contract ended, unable to find work. The scholarship gave winners a chance to network and build relationships with other CTN winners. Those meetings helped me stay inspired, stay focused on my personal project, and provided encouragement to continue pursuing our careers as artists." ~Mohini Mahabir, Character Designer
